What is a Generic Drug?

A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use.   • Wash hands before using. Remove cap from tube. Screw on nozzle end of applicator tube.
  • Gently squeeze the end of the tube to dispense the application dose. Use the stopping point indicators shown on the applicator tube to measure the correct amount.
  • Unscrew applicator from tube. Lie on back with knees up and insert applicator far into vaginal cavity and then press plunger down to dispense medication.

After application you should wash applicator with soap and water. Do not boil applicator or use hot water to clean it.


The active ingredient in Premarin vaginal cream is conjugated estrogens.


Inform your doctor of any history vaginal bleeding, cancer, blood clots, stroke, heart disease, liver disease, kidney disease, family medical history of angioedema, blood clotting disorders, high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol or triglyceride levels, obesity, lupus, underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism), mineral imbalance in the blood, hypoparathyroidism, uterus problems like fibroids or endometriosis, gallbladder disease, asthma, seizures, migraine headaches, or porphyria blood disorder.

Any of these conditions may lead them to determine that use of Premarin is not suitable for you.

Do not smoke or use tobacco when using Premarin as doing so increases your risk of stroke, blood clots, high blood pressure, and heart attack for women who are older than the age of thirty-five (35).

Use of Premarin may not be suitable if you just had or will undergo surgery or if you will be confined to a chair or bed for a long time. This may increase your risk of getting blood clots.

Limit time in sun while using this vaginal menopause cream, as sunlight exposure may cause blotchy, dark areas on your face and skin (melasma). Avoid tanning booths and sun lamps too.


There is the possibility of drug interaction risks between Premarin cream with gabapentin / levothyroxine / lisinopril / omeprazole / Synthroid (levothyroxine) / tramadol / trazodone / Vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin) / Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) / and Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol).

You should tell your doctor about all Rx medications and other health supplements you are taking before receiving a prescription and proceeding to buy Premarin cream.

Side Effects

It is not common to experience Premarin cream side effects, but some individuals may experience breast pain, changes in vaginal discharge, cough or hoarseness, fever or chills, clear or white vaginal discharge, genital itching, lower back or side pain, continued pain during sexual intercourse, pelvis pressure or pain, along with pain or difficulty when urinating.

If these Premarin cream side effects are experienced, discontinue use and meet with your doctor again to discuss other ways to prevent pain with sex during menopause and treat vaginal menopause symptoms.
